The Canny Canine proudly offers one of the most unique obedience training in Bozeman.
Our classes are kept purposely small to allow for individualized attention. We focus on reward based/marker training...with some really fun reward twists to make learning fun for both dogs and handlers!
We currently offer the following Obedience opportunities:
- Canine Etiquette - Our very basic obedience class. This 4 week class is appropriate for puppies over 12 weeks old, "new to you" dogs, or teams that want to revisit very basic foundation. Offered 3 - 4 times a year.
- AKC Canine Good Citizen Class - This 6 week class focuses on the 10 behaviors required to pass the AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluation. This is an excellent goal for ALL teams! Offered twice a year.
- Drop-In Obedience - This on-going class is for self-driven handlers. If you have specific goals you are working towards with your dog, this is the group for you. The instructor is available the first 30 minutes of the session to assist in tasks as directed by handlers. Equipment is available for setup after the first hour. This highly supportive group can be found working on any of the following: AKC Conformation & Obedience, CGC Test items, IGP Obedience, General training & proofing around a group of dogs. Note: This class is not for doggie meet and greets.

K9 Nose Work is otherwise known as Sport Detection.
The Canny Canine has a deeply established program serving the Bozeman area. We consistently produce high level competitors in Montana and across the Pacific Northwest. Carolyn is skilled in training both food and toy reward dogs. She is deeply involved with the sport as an NACSW Trial Certifying Official and Judge and has been a Certified Instructor for over 8 years.
While The Canny Canine's program focuses on competition through National Association of Canine Scent Work (NACSW), participants can utilize their training in any sport detection venue including AKC and American Schutzhund.
K9 Nose Work provides a critical mental outlet for active dogs. You can the game in any safe location including your home, the local park, or even in a hotel when traveling.
